Most soundboards tell you to install VB-Cable or Voicemeeter, switch Discord's
mic to CABLE Output, and then route your real mic back through it. Onion Board
skips all of that: your sounds go straight into the mic you already use, so Discord and your
games hear your voice and your sounds together.

Why the virtual cable is a pain
It's a driver install, and it adds fake devices to every app's mic list.
Every app has to be switched to the cable: Discord, each game, OBS.
Your real voice then needs a second trick ("listen to this device" or Voicemeeter) to
reach the cable too, which adds delay and echo when it goes wrong.
When something breaks, nobody can hear you, and it's hard to tell which step failed.
How Onion Board does it instead
One click, Put my sounds straight into my mic, adds a small audio effect to your mic in
Windows' own audio engine (Windows asks for permission once). From then on, anything that listens
to your mic hears your sounds mixed in. Nothing to pick in Discord, nothing to change in your games.
It backs up your mic's settings first, and puts them back when you switch it off or uninstall.
The short guide asks for your mic and headphones. Click Put my sounds straight into my mic
and Yes when Windows asks.
In Discord (User Settings → Voice & Video), keep your normal mic. Set
Input Profile to Custom, Noise Suppression to None and turn
Echo Cancellation off, so Discord doesn't filter your sounds out. Don't pick
Studio: on your real mic it makes Discord skip Windows' audio effects, Onion Board included.
Onion Board reads these settings and tells you if one is in the way.
Drag sound files onto the window, give pads hotkeys, and play. Everyone in the call hears them.
Still want a cable or a mixer?
That works too. On the Setup tab, Use the virtual cable instead installs and sets up
VB-Cable for you. Already use Voicemeeter, a mixer, OBS or a capture card? Pick it under
Send my sounds to, or add it under Also play on.
Questions
Does it work in games, not just Discord? Yes. Any game with voice chat listens to your mic,
so it hears your sounds too. Push-to-talk works: Auto push-to-talk can hold your key while a
sound plays.
Can I send only the sounds, not my voice? Yes, untick Others hear it under My mic.
Is it safe? The only step that needs admin is that one-click mic effect, and it's fully undone
on uninstall. Every release is scanned on VirusTotal and the source is
on GitHub.
Coming from Soundpad, Resanance, Soundux or EXP? It offers to bring your sounds and hotkeys over
in one click. See the Soundpad alternative page.
Windows may warn about the download because the installer isn't code-signed
(that costs hundreds a year). Click More info → Run anyway.
