Onion Board plays sounds, music and text-to-speech through your mic, so the people in your Zoom or Google Meet call hear them along with your voice. Call apps try hard to filter out anything that isn't speech, though, so each needs one setting changed. Here's which.
The short guide asks for your mic and headphones. Click Put my sounds straight into my mic and Yes when Windows asks. No virtual cable needed.
Drag sound files onto the window, right-click a pad to give it a hotkey, and play.
Zoom
Zoom's default noise removal treats music and sound effects as noise and wipes them. In Zoom, go to
Settings → Audio, and under Microphone modes pick Original sound for musicians.
Keep your normal mic selected. That's it: your sounds come through clearly.
Google Meet
In Firefox: it works with your normal mic. If sounds get cut and your Meet
has a noise cancellation switch (Settings → Audio), turn it off.
In Chrome or Edge: these browsers grab the mic in a way that skips Windows' audio effects,
Onion Board's included. Use the cable instead: on Onion Board's Setup tab click
Use the virtual cable instead, then in Meet pick CABLE Output as your mic
(your voice goes through it too) and turn noise cancellation off if it's there.
What you can play
Sound effects and clips, with hotkeys so you don't have to switch windows.
Music or a video from another program, from the Apps tab.
