Voicemod keeps much of what it does behind a subscription and an account. Onion Board gives you the two things most people use it for, a soundboard and a live voice changer, for free: no account, no ads, no trial, nothing locked.
The short guide asks for your mic and headphones. Click Put my sounds straight into my mic and Yes when Windows asks. No virtual cable needed.
In Discord (User Settings → Voice & Video), keep your normal mic. Set Input Profile to Custom, Noise Suppression to None and turn Echo Cancellation off, so Discord doesn't filter your sounds out. Onion Board reads these settings and tells you if one is in the way.
Drag sound files onto the window, right-click a pad to give it a hotkey, and play.
Questions
Can I bring my Voicemod sounds? Not straight from Voicemod: it keeps your own sounds in
your online account. Drag the original sound files onto Onion Board's window instead.
Does the voice changer add delay? A little; the Voice tab shows how much each voice adds.
AI voices run about 75 ms behind you.
Do I need both apps? No. Onion Board does the sounds and the voice in one, through the
mic you already use.
Onion Board isn't affiliated with Voicemod. The name is used here only to describe what Onion Board is an alternative to.
